Lake Ripley Management District: Lake Ripley Phragmites Control: The Lake Ripley Management District will conduct a Phragmites control project over the next five years in the wetland near Vasby\2019s channel, Lake Ripley, in Jefferson County. No other sites with phragmites are known in the watershed, and this wetland is protected under conservation easement held jointly by the District the the DNR. Seedhead removal, targeted herbicide use, monitoring and reseeding will accomplish the control goals. Deliverables include annual reports to the department, and a final report with photo documentation of the project, along with any data or maps collected for the project. The project will be shared via District newsletter, press releases, and during televised Board meetings.

Lake Ripley Management District: Lake Ripley Critical Habitat Phragmites Control: Lake Ripley Management District is sponsoring a project to control phragmites in a wetland adjacent to Lake Ripley, Jefferson County. This phragmites is an early infestation that requires control not just to maintain the health of this particular wetland, but to prevent the spread of this invasive species to many acres of adjacent wetland on the south shore of Lake Ripley.

Project final deliverables include: A written report for educational purposes, showing the progression of treatments using collected photographs and narratives.

Specific project activities include: 1) photo-document the phragmites and property-owner assessment of phragmites at the site, 2) establish a project team, 3) control the phragmites following the management plan (cutting and removal of existing biomass, timely treatments, and monitoring).

Delavan Lake Sd: Lmi-Permeable Paver Roadway - Delavan Lake Association, Inc.: The Delavan Lake Sanitary District will partner with the Assembly Park subdivision to facilitate the installation of 243,000 square feet of permeable pavers for a 25.4 acre subdivision. Approximately 5 acres of local paved roads will be removed and replaced with permeable pavers. Assembly Park will enter into a 10 year maintenance agreement with the Delavan Lake Sanitary District to retain the pavers. The project deliverables include a narrative detailing the installation of the pavers and a photo essay documenting each step of the construction project.

Delavan Lake Sd: Acq-Brown'S Channel Watershed Land Acquisition #1: The Delavan Lake Sanitary District (DLSD) will use this grant to pay for part of the purchase of 18 lots along Browns Channel, part of Delavan Lake, located in the Town of Delavan. The project includes the Brown parcel (1.38 acres) and the Odling Parcel (0.30 acre), zoned Lowland Conservation District (C4). The parcel borders other DLSD lands under protection.

The DLSD will manage two invasive species, buckthorn and bush honeysuckle and other woody vegetation through yearly removal or cutting, with the goal of removing 80% within three years of property purchase. Native species will be planted in areas that non- native species are removed. Bank stabilization and stream channel habitat improvement projects will also take place.

All maintenance and improvement activities will be the responsibility of the DLSD in accordance with the Land Management Plan, dated January 22nd, 2015.

City Of Middleton: Lmi-Pheasant Branch Watershed - In Lake Mendota Priority Watersh: The City of Middleton will contract with the U.S. Geological Survey to monitor and model the surface and groundwater flow within a portion of the Pheasant Branch watershed to locate effective combination of storm water treatment and control sites within the North Fork to mitigate the impacts of urbanization on the quality and quantity of water reaching Lake Mendota. Activities of the project include developing a surface and groundwater model based on existing data, collecting various field data for model inputs (including monitoring precipitation and flow discharge) refine the model and calibrate it to field measurements, calculate present and future pollution loads, and conduct analyses to accomplish the project objectives. Deliverables include: a report summarizing the project work, results and recommendations, maps showing recharge areas, hydrologfical sensitive sites, and the final calibrated computer model.

Lake Ripley Management District: Acq-Lake Ripley Land Acquisition - Probst Property: Lake Ripley Management District will acquire about 99 acres of croplands and wetlands that help make up the only inlet to Lake Ripley. The acquisition project consists of two parts; 1) about 63 1/2 acres of farmed/wetland and 2) about 35 1/2 acres of drained wetland. This land will contribute to water quality improvements in Lake Ripley by stopping sedimentation from cropland in a soon to be restored wetland.

Lake Ripley Management District: Acq-Lake Ripley-Johnson Acquisition: The Lake Ripley Management District will purchase a 65.926-acre parcel of the James & Jane Johnson property in the Town of Oakland, Jefferson County. The property will link the 100-acre Lake Ripley Preserve to 40 acres of DNR-owned wetlands along Lake Ripley's only inlet. This purchase would also ensure the protection, in perpetuity, of a critical stream corridor and wetland/floodplain complex within the headwaters region of Lake Ripley. By purchasing this property, Lake Ripley Management District will be able to establish protective conservation buffers; gain access to additional wetland and stream areas for purchases of protection and restoration; and will preserve one of the watershed's few remaining woodlots.

Lake Ripley Management District: Res-Hoard-Curtis Scout Camp Lkshore Rest.: Lake Ripley Management District proposes to undertake a shoreline stabilization and restoration project at the Hoard-Curtis Scout Camp shoreline on Lake Ripley, Jefferson County. They will install riprap off-shore of the existing shoreline (DNR permit already issued), plant aquatic plants inland of that riprap, and do upland seeding (to supplement previously completed plug plantings) after invasive weed and brush removal. The deliverable for this project will consist of a final written report describing the major steps in the project, supplemented with photo documentation of the work in progress and the final, complete project. The approximately 7 acre wetland property will be restored where necessary. Approximately half of the wetland property needs enhancement. Invasive species will be removed. The site will be prepared and planted with native wetland plants. The project deliverable will be a short report detailing the restoration methods used. The report should contain a few before/after pictures. Department staff will tour the completed restoration site before closing the grant and issuing the final grant payment.

Rock-Koshkonong Lake District: Res-Lake Koshkonong/Mud Lake Wetland Restoration: The Rock Koshkonong Lake District will use dredge spoils from a nearby location on the lake to re-create an eroded barrier of land that protects the Mud Lake wetland from the main lake\2019s wave action, arm the barrier with riprap, and re-create a wetland behind the barrier. This restored wetland is the subject of the grant, as well as the Mud Lake wetland complex which is being protected. Another facet of protecting the Mud Lake wetland from carp congregating there, the District will also build a navigation-friendly carp barrier between the lake and the wetland. In the spring, without such a barrier, carp migrate in great numbers into Mud Lake, creating disturbance to aquatic plants and displacing other fish spawning.

The property abuts the 300 acre Silverwood Park. The acquisition will protect the shoreline and fishery ecosystem for wildlife and scenic beauty and prevent the parcel from conversion to other uses. Additionally, this parcel will be integrated with other County-owned parcels already purchased to maximize the positive management, resource and recreational impacts for wildlife and the public. Eligible costs include acquisition of the parcels, appraisal fees and preparation of an environmental assessment.
